Situated on the 58th Floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel, overlooking Kuala Lumpur with an unobstructed view of the famous Petronas Twin Towers, The Horizon Grill is a fantastic dining experience.
As the diner you can choose whether to dine inside the restaurant or al fresco on the balcony depending on your preference or your mood! It is one of the best views in Kuala Lumpur with exceptional taste in restaurant design and a wonderfully delightful menu.
There is a good selection of elegant and well crafted meals for the curious taster who is looking for an excellent culinary experience. It has a great reputation for its wonderful friendly service, amazing views, and first-rate chef.
We were given a pleasant welcome and shown to our table by the friendly waiter. After taking a comfortable seat outdoors as we gazed out over the city, we waited for our inspired meal.
I settled into my comfortable seat, took in the ambient view, felt the calmness and wonder of the surroundings. The professional yet friendly staff brought across the first course which looked very tasty indeed…
The First Course
Grilled King Prawns
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a massive fan of Grilled King Prawns. Wherever I go, wherever I travel, if King Prawns are on the menu then I will gravitate towards them! This delicious appetiser was made from chilli, garlic and orange infused olive oil, with gentle couscous, and shredded coconut with dehydrated pineapple salad. The taste of the coconut complemented the King Prawns beautifully and was a fantastic start to my meal.
Second Course
Bultarra Australian Outback Salt Rush Lamb Rack
An amazing title for a dish and I was not disappointed! Simply the best lamb I have ever tasted in my life. With radiant with flavours and deliciously crafted ingredients, I will remember this dish forever. Marinated in molasses and cumin spices, egg plant caviar, mint jelly, tomato tapenade, pumpkin puree, and grilled asparagus, the combination of these diverse flavours enlivened the palate no end.
Third Course
Chocolate Passion Wood
Chocolate is not something that I usually find myself drawn to as I’m usually drawn to the more savoury delights, but I have to say this dessert captured my taste buds pretty quickly! Considering I am not a great fan of chocolate, I really have to make an exception for this dessert. Made from chocolate cream, chocolate mousse, passion fruit gel, chocolate devil cake, and vanilla ice cream it was certainly indulgent! I enjoyed this delicious dessert and would absolutely have it again, perfectly crafted, beautifully presented. A delightful end to the meal which was complimented by wine.
Horizon Grill has an excellent reputation and for a reason – it’s menu, it’s professional and friendly staff, the elegant stylish modern features, a comfortable and spacious restaurant are (with two additional private dining areas), and it’s striking views of the Capitol. A five star gourmet experience.
