Paschoe House is a high-class Luxury Boutique Hotel, set in the idyllic English countryside right in the heart of Devon. It can be found 15 minutes north of Dartmoor and 25 minutes from the city of Exeter along a winding but well-maintained country road. The converted Manor House has a strikingly magnificent and charming exterior, with the long driveway leading up to the grand main entrance. Very popular with both British and American visitors, this fascinating and idyllic scene is perfectly set as you approach Paschoe House.
Our arrival was extremely welcoming, and we were immediately impressed by the friendly and professional staff who were polite and friendly. The reception area was well balanced with a combination of elegant professionalism and homely comfort, all within the setting of an inspiring building.
We were struck by the fantastic interior design, which is both unique and creative, with beautiful animal displays mounted throughout the corridors and lobby areas. There is a huge antler chandelier adorning the hallway which is impressive and certainly eye catching.
After a long journey and late arrival, we were very grateful to be guided through the levels of Paschoe House, past the elegant chaise-lounges , up to our room on the top floor. Paschoe House has several rooms and a total of 9 en-suite bedrooms which are named after the woodland creatures living the surrounding forests and countryside. The theme named rooms are called “fox, badger, rabbit, bat, deer” and we were led up to the en-suite room called – hedgehog. As you can see the room was of a good size, great comfort, and provision of home made cookies, chocolates, and selection of teas.
An important point for consideration at a Luxury and Boutique Hotel, is the uniqueness and comfort of the bathroom. I am pleased to say that Paschoe House did not disappoint in this fact!
A wonderfully comfortable and sizeable bath, with luxury bath salts and vanities, made the whole experience of bathing completely spa like and enjoyable. Accompanying the bath was a large glass shower cubicle with luxury bathrobes, wide mirrors and sinks. Breaking away from the side of the bathroom is a quirky cubby hole are containing two chaise-lounges. A great place where one can relax in comfort and read the daily newspapers delivered to the room.
This is place to eat! Wonderful 5 star gourmet food! I cannot impress upon how fantastic the food is at the Paschoe House Restaurant. There is a range of adorable breakfast culinary delights available in the morning up to 11am, and extraordinary tasting menus created from locally sourced ingredients. The staff are on hand to provide excellent advice on the very best wine pairings.
I was particularly impressed by the desert which was designed to look like a perfectly green fresh apple, and the duck which had been through an extensive process of being slow cooked after being perfectly prepared and preserved over several days. Simply sublime.
Paschoe House is the perfect stay for anyone wanting a pleasant stay, to explore the surrounding area, and enjoy the surroundings of the beautiful landscape and countryside. It has the perfect blend of both tradition and modern design, with a friendly and professional atmosphere and excellent restaurant. The restaurant itself should be a reason to make a visit. Not particularly well known, this is a wonderful little secret escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and I would encourage you to find out where it is and visit soon.
