Hotel Parlament is located in a prime location in the centre of Budapest and has been welcoming guests since 2006. It is not far from several popular destinations including walking distance from The Houses of Parliament, the St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and the banks of the River Danube. It is quite an interesting and quirky hotel with art-deco style, comfortable rooms and modern feel.
We decided to take public transport on the way to the hotel, which was a little bit of a problem as it meant we needed to carry our cases some distance, and in hindsight it is probably better to get a taxi from the airport to the door of the hotel. We arrived at the hotel and made our way to the reception desk. We were politely welcomed as guests, asked about our journey, and provided with our room keys and information about the hotel. We then made our way up to our room using the nearby elevator. The first thing you notice as you make your way is the interesting and quirky features of the art decor style fittings, with bright colours and gentle surprising curves, and mezzanine floor overlooking the restaurant/bar area. You can see all this before going into the elevator.
We entered into our room which was very comfortable and modern, and placed our belongings securely in the safe provided. The double bed was very comfortable and gave us a wonderfully pleasant good night’s sleep. Around the room there were wall to ceiling windows with white drapes and blackout curtains adding that sense of extra space. There was a comfortable sofa and a small table with chairs which was a convenient for watching TV or to have a small snack of fruit from the fresh fruit bowl provided with the room.
The bathroom was fairly spacious with a beautifully looking bath and shower area, with toilet and bidet. I enjoyed using the bathroom as although it wasn’t grand, you felt like you were able to carry out all your ablutions in adequate comfort and space.
The hotel has a 24 hour concierge with staff who speak multiple languages. Our experience was that the staff were friendly, polite and really helpful if you had any questions about visiting any sites or locations.
Near to the reception desk is the business area – which we found quite handy as we needed to print some tickets and passes for our trips. The internet corner has within it two computers which allow you to use the high speed wifi to surf the web, check emails and use the Bluetooth printer. There is also a conference room available for hire for business purposes.
Alternatively, for relaxation purposes – there is the wellness centre. Here we found the hotel jacuzzi area with Swedish Sauna. A plus about this was that there was free unlimited access available between 6am and 10pm.
There was also the lobby bar (near to the breakfast bar area) which was a good place for us to relax after a long day, perhaps with a coffee or tea, (and on occasions something a little stronger- cocktail or beer). Snacks were available with tortilla wraps, sandwiches and soup.
Each morning we were able to have breakfast in the unique quirky and art décor style breakfast bar. Excellently designed and well arranged, breakfast was beautifully presented with a wide array of fruits, meats, pastries, and juices. The seats and tables were comfortable and felt fun to have breakfast in. If you wanted a bit more privacy, you could also make your way up to the mezzanine floor overlooking the buffet style breakfast.
Rod: I love the design of Hotel parliament, it looks so modern and chic. I thought it was really trendy and so close and accessible to everything.
Adam: Yeah, I loved the quirkiness of it too. I mean my favourite area was the breakfast bar and the entrance – it’s different to other places we’ve stayed.
Rod: That is true, what made it so unique, is that… I thought it is.. a home away from home. Also it was so cool that I could just print off my vouchers and passes from the business area so easily. I mean we really need to do that and it so convenient for the trip.
Adam: Yeah, it’s a really cool place to stay in Budapest. Really good location.
